By William Stolerman An 850-acre island in the Bahamas has been put on the market for $80 million. The L-shaped Great Whale Cay island was formerly owned by "Joe" Carstairs - the heiress to the Standard Oil fortune. It's framed by 14 miles of waterfront property and includes various other features such as a lighthouse and a church. Of particular appeal is the private airstrip, which is a feature that would never be authorized today. It is a 50-minute flight from Florida and 10 minutes from Nassau. There seems to be quite a bit of choice on the island market at the moment. You might remember us reporting that the Japanese government has recently put an island up for sale off the coast of Hiroshima - The Northern Mitsuko Island.
